Dr. Michael Karol, DDS

Dental Broker & Advisor

When I first became interested in dentistry, I had little knowledge of all the factors affecting a practice. A formal education and degree play a foundational role, but there was so much more that we didn’t learn in school. Where do I want to work? How do I recruit, hire and train staff? How do I manage my school loans while trying to start a business? How do I combine the art and science of dentistry, with the management of a successful dental practice? All those things presented a steep learning curve.

While my overall health was fine, I was hit with a career-ending disability and could no longer execute the rigors of dentistry that my patients deserved. I asked myself: What’s my exit strategy? How would I be able to put my knowledge of the dental profession to use? This is when I became a dental broker and advisor.

My formal education has taken me from the Medical College of Virginia for my D.D.S. degree, to the University of Connecticut School of Dentistry for Advanced Educational Training. As an associate, I’ve worked in practices from Park Avenue in Manhattan, to Connecticut, and Westchester, NY. When it was time to purchase my own practice, I settled in the charming bedroom community of Somers, NY. During all of these experiences, I learned about the business of dentistry—what to do and, perhaps just as important, what not to do.

Using a personally tailored approach, I now use my expertise to broker dental practice and clinic transitions on both the buyer and seller side. I also advise new and existing dentists on the intricacies of owning a dental practice. My passion is to share my knowledge as you open, build, or sell, and to connect my clients with other dental professionals to broker not only practices but relationships.
